The Lodge

Welcome to Crooked Creek Retreat

Crooked Creek Retreat is an all-inclusive lodge set on six acres in Kasilof, just off the Sterling Highway. The lodge is two miles south of the Kasilof River, fifteen miles from Soldotna and the Kenai River, about eight minutes from Cook Inlet, and an hour north of Homer, the perfect base for exploring the Kenai Peninsula.

Auntie Dorothy keeps the property welcoming with blooming flowers, gardens, and vegetables, while moose wander through in search of raspberries and shrubs. Wraparound decks, patios, and balconies overflow with pots of flowers and hanging baskets. From the deck you can watch the ever-changing wildlife, and down by the creek you may spot salmon spawning, silvers splashing upstream, or even the occasional bear.

Guests love the little extras; loaner rods, nets and tackle for self guided fishing trips, a hammock by the creek, a game of horseshoes, or evenings around the fire pit with s’mores or hot dogs. And at the heart of every stay is the food: delicious homemade meals that leave guests asking for recipes and make every day at Crooked Creek feel like coming home.

Life Around the Lodge

Evenings at Crooked Creek Retreat often end around the fire pit where guests share stories, toss horseshoes, and relax after a day of adventure. Families love it too. Children splash in the creek, roast marshmallows, practice fly casting into hula hoops with weights only, or play with Remington, our friendly lodge dog.

Wildlife is always nearby. Ducks and kingfishers nest along the creek, while eagles and ravens soar overhead. Aunt Dorothy keeps bird books and binoculars handy so guests can record their sightings.

When the boats return, listen for the bell. It means the day’s catch is being hung at the lodge. Come celebrate, hear fish stories, and take your photo with the fish you reeled in.

Fresh Alaskan seafood, garden-picked produce, and recipes made the Crooked Creek way.

Meals at Crooked Creek Retreat are famous among guests, guides, and anyone lucky enough to join us. Many say you should “diet before you come” so you can fully enjoy everything we serve.

Dinners often include our prime rib, halibut fish and chips, salmon glazed with apricot, seafood alfredo, and Alaskan king crab served as legs or a Crab Louie. Guests may also vote for Italian roast chicken or chicken piccata. Add in hearty chowders like razor clam, smoked salmon, and prime rib mushroom, and you will quickly see why one week is never enough.

We round out the menu with fresh bread, desserts, and appetizers, often featuring Kachemak Bay oysters, Prince William Sound shrimp, and house-made dips. Many herbs, vegetables, and salad greens come straight from our own garden, along with rhubarb and cranberries for cobblers, sauces, and vinaigrettes. Auntie Dorothy even makes the jams served with breakfast breads.

At Crooked Creek, homemade is the standard. Fresh Alaskan seafood, local produce, and house-prepared recipes make every meal part of the adventure.

In the Kitchen

Auntie Dorothy leads the kitchen with her talented team, making sure every meal has that special Crooked Creek flavor. Shortly after check-in, guests meet with the cooks to share any dietary needs or preferences, and special requests can even be sent ahead so the lodge is stocked just for you.

Our prime rib is legendary, the seafood Alfredo is a guest favorite, and our soups and chowders are unforgettable. Fresh breads, desserts, and homemade salad dressings round out meals that guests rave about long after they leave. At Crooked Creek Retreat, the food is as much a part of the experience as the fishing and scenery.
